On Saturday, December 12, 2009, the Driftwood Folk Cafe presents Antje Duvekot at 7:30 pm at the First Parish Church, 19 Town Square in Plymouth. Antje is one of the brightest singer-songwriters to rise out of Boston's competitive acoustic music scene. Driftwood Folk Cafe, an alcohol-free and non-smoking venue, is bringing great folk, acoustic rock, country folk, roots and blues musicians to America's Hometown. The family-friendly venue is dedicated to encouraging and supporting acoustic music and its appreciation in an intimate coffeehouse-style listening atmosphere. On December 12-13, the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra presents "Holiday Pops!," featuring the Pilgrim Festival Chorus and the Federal Furnace School Treble Chorus at Memorial Hall on Court Street in Plymouth. And don't forget to save the date for America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration, to be held November 20-22 on the Plymouth waterfront!

NANTUCKET ISLAND
Nantucket is enchanting and fun during the holidays! The season is highlighted by the Annual Christmas Stroll Weekend on December 4-6, 2009, which is part of the month-long Nantucket Noel celebration (November 27-December 31). GREATER MERRIMACK VALLEY
The Lexington Chamber of Commerce promotes shopping locally with the annual “Holiday Festival Night” in Lexington Center on Friday, December 4, 2009, from 4 to 9:30 pm. Enjoy indoor musical performances and outdoor carolers! Downtown merchants will stay open late and offer various discounts, refreshments, raffles and give-a-ways. The Master Singers of Lexington will also be performing outdoors in Depot Square while the crowd awaits Santa’s arrival at approximately 6:30 pm for the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.

CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS

THE BERKSHIRES
Every year, the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield spruces up its galleries for its holiday exhibition, the Festival of Trees! Schoolchildren, community organizations, and business from across the Berkshires have decorated scores of trees, inspired by the theme Silver Bells. The traditional Silver Bells theme rings with nostalgia, as do companion exhibitions of historical photographs of downtown Pittsfield in the late 1800s and selections from the Museum’s collection of antique silver decorative arts. Festival of Trees is on view November 14-January 3, 2009.

SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS
The Fall River Historical Society celebrates the holiday season with its Annual Open House in the Victorian manner, beginning the Saturday before Thanksgiving and running through December 30, 2009. On December 4th, join the festivities at Lights on! Taunton, a 90 year-old tradition featuring the lighting of Taunton Green. Then, on December 5-6, the New Bedford Preservation Society hosts the 18th Annual Holiday House Tour of stunning mid-to-late nineteenth century homes, decked out for the season in grandiose style.

Zoom to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams on December 12, 2009! Don’t miss the opening of Gravity is a Force to Be Reckoned With by artist Inigo Manglano-Ovalle, which features an inverted Mies van de Rohe glass house from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by a work-in-progress showing of ZviDance’s Zoom at 8 pm. During this lush new work, you’ll be encouraged to send text messages to the production designer, who will employ audience suggestions altering the video projections and the choreography before your eyes.

The Ninth Annual Festival of Trees takes place November 27–December 13, 2009 at Springfield’s Tower Square. Enjoy 100 enchanting holiday trees donated and decorated by area businesses, organizations and individuals.
